Huntington Eyes Rapid Response System

A desire to immediately notify parents and guardians about emergency situations has led Huntington School District officials to eye a rapid response system that will allow for mass notification when the need arises.

The district has been participating in a mass notification venture with E-School Data, Huntington’s new student management system, according to Assistant Superintendent David H. Grackin. “As a result of our participation in the development process, we will be participating in a BETA test of the software,” Mr. Grackin said. “This software will allow us to call every student family in the school district with an automated message designed by us.”

A test of the system is planned “before it goes into full scale production,” Mr. Grackin said. “Because of our participation in this project, there will be no cost to us to use this system for school closings and emergencies. If we wish to extend the usage to other types of mass callings, we will receive a 25 percent discount,” he added.
