Summer Arts Enrichment Program Makes Final Preparations
The final list of course offerings will be released soon, but the Huntington School District’s 2008 OOMPAH Summer Arts Enrichment Program is expected to offer something of interest to everyone. Classes will run from June 30 through July 25.
The program, which is open to students entering grades 4-8, will be housed at J. Taylor Finley Middle School on Greenlawn Road. Classes are 45 minutes in length and run Monday through Friday. Students can enroll in as many as four separate courses. The program runs from 8 a.m. to noon each day, with 15 breaks between classes.
Possible music classes include advanced band, beginner strings, School of Rock, Finely band, Jazz band and improve, dance techniques, beginner percussion, beginner piano, beginner and intermediate color guard, beginner brass, beginner guitar, computer music composing, beginner woodwind, drum circle, advanced orchestra, musical theater and kickline and pom with the Highsteppers.
Possible art classes include creative video, painting and drawing, Huntington’s top chef, 2D animation, 3D sculpture, digital photo, advanced paint and draw, ceramics, jewelry making, creative sewing and Project Runway, Jr.
The program, which is sponsored and coordinated by the Organization of Music Parents of Huntington, has a long tradition of serving the needs of local community youth with wholesome, educational and fun summer activities.
