Beck’s Basket Makes Huntington a Winner, 56-54
The Huntington boys’ basketball team overcame a rocky start to top Rocky Point in the final game of the regular season, 56-54 as James Beck scored on a putback with two-tenths of a second remaining.
The Blue Devils trailed at halftime, 26-23, but used a 21-14 third quarter run to grab a 44-40 lead. The Eagles weren’t about to quit, though, outscoring Huntington over the final eight minutes of play. The game seemed headed into overtime when Beck came up with the ball and scored from under the basket as time was about to expire.
Anthony Brown led all scorers with 19 points. Matt Duffy added 13 points for the Blue Devils, who connected on five three-point buckets.
The victory gave Huntington an 8-6 record in regular season league play.
