Trustees Ratify Contract with Security Guards
Huntington School Board members have ratified a memorandum of agreement with the district’s security guards bargaining unit, retroactive to July 1, 2006. The new contract will run through June 30, 2009.
The United Public Service Employees Union represented the security guards in the long negotiations. The district was represented by its labor counsel, Guercio & Guercio.
The new contract provides raises of 3.5 percent in each of the three years, respectively. Guards will also be eligible for longevity increases of 75 cents per hour after five, 10 and 15 years of service to the district within their bargaining unit.
A memorandum of agreement was signed by the parties on February 5. Trustees approved the deal following a ratification vote by the security guards.
