Search on for Dean of Students for Jack Abrams School
The Huntington School District is searching for a new dean of students for Jack Abrams Intermediate School after current dean Lynn Winters accepted the assistant principal position at Elwood Middle School.
According to a job posting sent to district faculty members, “the dean’s primary responsibility will be to provide support and assistance to teachers with student disciplinary matters, including lunchroom supervision and student arrival and dismissal. The dean will be responsible for follow-up communication with parents and teachers. The dean, under the supervision of the principal, will work to support the implementation of educational programs in the school. The dean will have additional responsibilities in arranging and scheduling student and parent activities.”
The dean works closely with the principal. At Jack Abrams School, the dean has also traditionally served as the student council advisor. “We are looking for an outstanding educator to fill the position,” Assistant Superintendent Joseph Giani said.
According to Mr. Giani, the district is looking for someone who can work collaboratively with the entire school community, including students, faculty and support staff and parents. Current faculty members were asked to submit a letter of application and their resume by this Friday, August 22 if they are interested in the position.
Applicants must hold a teaching certification, preferably in school counseling. The position is full-time and does not carry any additional classroom teaching responsibilities.
