Three Huntington Video Students Win Prestigious Awards

The awards just keep right on coming for students in Huntington High School’s video arts program.  This time the Huntington teenagers captured three first place trophies in the 3rd Annual Locust Valley Film Festival, a competition that drew more than 150 entries from ten Long Island high schools.

Winning top honors were Hector Guerrero (music video), Matt Fairbanks (public service announcement) and Marissa Rosenfeld (documentary).  Participants in the competition vied in seven categories, making Huntington’s total of three champions even more impressive.

Mr. Guerrero’s music video, “When Tomorrow Comes,” Mr. Fairbanks’ public service announcement, “Domestic Violence Prevention,” and Ms. Rosenfeld’s documentary, “The History of Comics,” each effectively wowed the judges.

"Under the skilled direction of video teacher Heather Swan, the Huntington video students are really making their mark on the high school video scene,” said Joan R. Fretz, director of fine and performing arts for the district.  “They have won many top awards at this year's local festivals.  Many participants and judges comment on the high quality, creativity and professionalism of our students' work.

The students were delighted to receive ‘Oscar’ trophies for their accomplishments."
