Huntington Booster Club to Host 3rd Annual Tennis Camp
Last summer more than four dozen aspiring players participated and coach Jamie Fishlow expects even more this year for the Blue Devil Booster Club’s tennis camp at Huntington High School. Students entering kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to register. The camp will run from June 30 – July 3. Tuition is $99 per child.
Participants can register for one of two 90 minute sessions: 9 – 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The camp will utilize the six-court complex at the high school. Beginner to intermediate ability levels are welcome to attend. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.
Participants will be grouped according to their age and current level of ability. There will be conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. The camp has been designed to help each participant develop the skills and confidence necessary to become a competitive tennis player. Each day a particular skill or stroke will be emphasized.
Mr. Fishlow is a Huntington High School physical education teacher and head coach of both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams. He has coached both Suffolk and New York State champions during his long career and has more than two decades of experience working with young people of all ages.
Tennis rackets will be provided to those needing one for camp participation. For a complete camp brochure, log onto the Huntington School District’s website at www.hufsd.edu.
