Huntington School Board Notes

The Huntington Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) has donated $4,500 to the district to support ongoing training for teachers, administrators and support staff in Dr. Mel Levine’s “All Kinds of Minds” program. 



Huntington School Board members approved the addition of the National Junior Baseball League to the list of organizations authorized to use district facilities.



Trustees authorized the disposal of more than two dozen books that are outdated and no longer of any use to the Huntington High School College Center.  Trustees also authorized disposal of a scanner and Scanmark machine and Texas Instruments printer that were previously used at J. Taylor Finley Middle School and are either obsolete or broken.  A Risograph TR 15010 copier that had been used at Southdown Primary School was also authorized for disposal.



A $1,000 budget transfer from one account to another to cover the cost of stationery, business cards, a signature stamp and other office supplies for the guidance department was approved by trustees.


Toby Frye (Jefferson), Patricia Dillon (Huntington Intermediate), Tiffanie Kelly (Southdown), Patrice Persichilli (Flower Hill), Keith Meyers (Woodhull) and Georganne White (Washington) were approved to work as audio-visual coordinators.



Karen Morea, Tomorrah Castillo and Susah Hahn were approved to work as drama club advisors along with Lynn Winters (student government), Patricia Dillon (newspaper) and Paul Esposito (School of Rock) at Huntington Intermediate School.



Michael Gavilan, Brian Reynolds, Travis Smith and Andrew Chabot were approved to work as cafeteria supervisors at J. Taylor Finley Middle School.  Carol Dow, Regina Connors and Heidie Magerle were approved as substitute cafeteria supervisors.



Carol Dow and Regina Connors were appointed after school supervisors at Finley Middle School.
Kevin McQuade was appointed a driver education instructor.



Teachers Catherine Barth, Allison Curran, Nicole Parrett and Heather Weinstein were given additional work assignments in order to organize and create workshop presentations for Literacy Collaborative training.  They were each authorized to work three days.  The cost was picked up by a grant.



Michael Byrnes, Steven Davis, Michael Catania, Ignatius Asaro, John Mohlenhoff, Tara Reminick, Robert Nesky, Shari Campbell, Rose Canino and Douglas Soviero were each approved to work as athletic event supervisors.



Kristen Achtziger, Gene Adesso, Joan Anderson, Colleen Backer, Denielle Balsari, Lisa Karasik, Jessica Lang, Kelly Lewis, Michael Macolino, Kathleen Mallen-Ozimkowski, Heather Barfuss, Barbara Brown, Gina Chen, Christopher Coletto, James Conte, Carl DiSarno, Margaret Dukoff, Martin Howfield, Victor Mendoza, Denise Novello, Peter Ravo, Catherine Sears, Irene Sofas, Dana Tate and Sarah Winters were all added to the approved list of substitute teachers.
