Huntington Foundation Surveys the Dreams of Teachers
The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education is asking teachers to take a few minutes and answer a series of questions. The short survey is meant to provide information to the non-profit group, which raises funds to improve the educational experience in the Huntington School District. The survey is also designed to stimulate the imaginations of teachers.
“If you had up to $1,000 to spend in your classroom, what would you buy?” Teachers have been told the funds could go toward equipment, programs, materials, etc.
Another question asks: “If you had up to $11,000 to spend, what would you buy?” A third question seeks input on the “greatest area of need” at each school.
The Foundation prides itself on funding teacher’s dreams. “Sort of like the genie in the bottle,” according to its promotional material. The group has provided more than $650,000 to the district over the years “to bring innovative, cutting edge programs” into classrooms.
