Huntington School Briefs
Scott Brennan has been hired to work part-time to teach business classes at Huntington High School. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College in 1994 with a BA degree in business administration and obtained his Master’s at Dowling College in 2006 in secondary education.
Mr. Brennan has worked as a substitute teacher in Connetquot, a permanent substitute in Levittown and as a social studies teacher in Plainview-Old Bethpage, the Levittown alternative high school program and during the past three summers for Nassau BOCES.
District officials reviewed 34 applications and interviewed 10 candidates before recommending Mr. Brennan for an appointment that runs through June 30, 2008.
Lauren Frisenda has been appointed a classroom teacher at Washington Primary School through December 21. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at Sacred Heart University in 2006 and 2007, respectively. She completed her student teaching requirements in the Wilton School District in Connecticut. District officials reviewed five applications and interviewed four candidates before recommending Ms. Frisenda for appointment.
Nancy Giorgos will be working this year at a reading teacher at Jefferson Primary School, where she will fill in for a faculty member out on a child care leave of absence. She graduated from Hofstra University in 1981 with a B.A. degree in psychology and obtained a Master’s at Hofstra in 1998 in elementary education.
Ms. Giorgos has worked as an elementary teacher in the Rockville Centre and Bellmore school districts and as a leave replacement in Uniondale. She worked last year in Huntington as a leave replacement reading teacher.
Huntington High School progress reports will be mailed home on or about October 19, December 21, March 7 and May 22. Report cards will be sent about November 26, February 5, April 18 and July 7.
