Jefferson Students Prepared for Meet the Teacher Night, too

It wasn’t just teachers making sure everything was just right prior to the annual Meet the Teacher night at Jefferson Primary School.  Students did their part, too, getting classrooms set for visits by parents and grandparents.

The opening weeks of school are always a busy time for teachers and students as both settle back into the groove of classroom work.  At Jefferson, children also spent time getting their classrooms and desks ready for their parents’ visit to meet with teachers.

Classroom bulletin boards were decorated and displays of creative writing adorned hallways with special welcoming wishes for the parents. The youngsters even made a point of cleaning their desks and completing numerous special projects to welcome their parents when they arrived in classrooms.

In first grade teachers Sharon Weider’s and Pattye Sweeney’s class, students created paper reproductions of themselves.  When the work was decorated and cut out, the life-sized clones of the children were taped to their chairs and there they sat looking like they were ready to learn.

In other classes, sparkling clean desks were arranged with notes and poems for their parents.  In second grade teachers Marisa Damiano’s and Susanne Kaczor’s class, each child created a poster telling, “All About Me” which hung in the hall.  On each desk in their classroom sat a bright red apple for the parents with a poem that read, “An apple for the teacher is really nothing new, except when you remember, parents are teachers, too.”

By all accounts, Jefferson’s “Meet the Teacher Night” was a huge hit.
