Young Finley Tennis Team Battles to Winning Record
The Finley Middle School girls’ tennis team turned in a winning season this fall, compiling a 6-5 mark in coach Linda Roth’s sophomore campaign. The 14-player squad was captained by Samantha Bindrim and Kristin Hartmann and demonstrated lots of potential.
“This was a fine group of young women,” Roth said about her young Falcon team. The roster consisted of nine seventh graders and five eighth grade players.
Olivia Ammirati, Jacki Ciriello, Jaime Brown and Hartman “turned in solid singles performances throughout the season,” Roth said. Bindrim and Margaret Petryk anchored the doubles contingent, which included Samantha Bruckhart, Holly Flores, Ashley Angstadt, Liz Whitcher, Kat Benedetto, Katie Fleming, Rebecca Palladino and Marissa Schedler. Kathryn Petrozzo and Maia Cadle-Hinton served as team managers.
Roth is optimistic about next fall, believing the “strong seventh graders will return as even stronger eighth graders.”
