Larkin Competing for State Swimming Title this Weekend

Huntington’s Kaitlyn Larkin will compete in the New York State Swimming Championships at the Nassau Aquatics Center in Eisenhower Park this weekend.  The junior will look to win a state crown and cap off a fabulous season.

Larkin advanced to the state meet after winning the Suffolk 100-yard breaststroke crown in a time of 1:06.50 – a full 2.30 ahead of the runner-up finisher.  It was a come-from-behind victory and the product of superior conditioning, skill and willpower.  The performance marked the sixth fastest time in the state this fall and positions Larkin squarely for a run at All-American honors, as well.

In the Suffolk meet, the Huntington dynamo also captured second place in the 200-yard IM finals, touching the wall in 2:11.07, which qualified her for the state meet this weekend, as well.  That performance was the 16th fastest in New York this season.

Huntington’s 200 yard medley team of Erica Flor, Diana Harvey, Maya Bengston and Larkin finished fourth in the Suffolk championships in a time of 1:59.56.
